This medium bodied Pinot has lovely elegance and poise. It is not a typical lighter style Pinot; it has texture, plentyof flavour and lovely length. The nose carries perfumed characters of raspberries, strawberries with a hint of black cherry. The romantic french oak balances into the mix perfectly, providing structure and depth to the wine. A delicious wine to drink now which will continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Viticulturist Notes
Fruit was harvested from 15 year old vines in an exceptional vineyard site from the Penbro Vineyard on the 22nd March 2018. The vineyard is situated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range with the soils influenced by ironstone, clay and gravel - perfect for low yielding vineyards. Tonnages were kept low, (approximately 1.5 tonnes/acre) to allow for maximum quality and flavour. The must was placed in small open pot fermenters and allowed to ferment naturally. I then hand plunged the pots every 8 hours for the duration of the ferment. Once the ferment was dry, the resulting wine was pressed off the skins and given time to settle before allowing a natural secondary fermentation. Separate parcels of the wine spent 12 months in French oak barriques, after which the final blending of select parcels took place.
Wine Harvest Notes
Another season by the joys and challenges that Mother Nature continually throws our way! 2018 is a very good year for quality, the season was warm and dry and we were kept on our toes as once we started picking everything ripened up pretty quickly. Intense flavours came in late this year and we held off picking to allow maximum flavour. The whites are all fruit forward, with lovely fresh acidity whilst the reds have excellent colour and flavour to match. This vintage is a beauty and subsequently we have made some cracking wines in 2018.
Food Recommendations
Great with duck and other game meats, medium intensity dishes like porcini mushroom risotto or soft cheese.
