After graduating from Charles Sturt University, Jo was then appointed Winemaker in 2011 at McPherson Wines. Since then she has been awarded trophies and accolades across the globe for her generous, elegant wines.
Jo’s natural affinity with, and passion for wine making is evident in all aspects of her life. Married to a winemaker, they make small batch wine at home, enlisting their four young children to help pick the grapes and stomp on them with their bare feet.
Jo leads the way with environmentally sound vineyard and winery practices, and minimal intervention wine making. In the vineyard she believes the soil and vines need to be carefully managed to ensure beautiful quality wines. Once the berries arrive at the winery her philosophy is to ‘get out of their way’ in order to let their natural quality and brilliance shine through in the wines. This natural approach has taken McPherson Wines from strength to strength in the past ten years, with Jo’s wines being enjoyed both in Australia and all over the world.
One of Jo’s great joys is to travel and see people in different countries enjoying her wines with their family and friends.
